Shige started off talking about how Green Mile is finished and now he’s doing various things with NEWS, including a ‘usual thing’ we’ve been waiting, and he thinks there’ll be a good announcements shortly.
The first message was from a listener who said that they’ve been looking forward to seeing what NEWS would do for the CDTV Halloween SP since it was announced NEWS would appear. She said that she really liked Shige’s Clockwork Orange costume and thought that it suited him. She hadn’t heard of the movie before so she wants to watch it now.
Shige thanked the listener for her message and said he would talk about the costume later.

Shige said that there’ve been a lot of albums he’s been looking forward to that’ve come out this month, and he’s been looking forward to the album from the group CHAI for a long time. He played their song ‘Boyz Seco Men’ on the radio before previously. He said their first album, ‘PINK’, came out on October 25th of this year and that it’s really good. He talked about the album cover it partly cute and partly fooling around. While there are a lot of songs on the album that have already been released previously, it’s really good and representative of them as a group.
He read a listener message about the album. She said that she became interested in CHAI after seeing them on a music program (S: I wonder if it’s the same one I saw.) and that she thinks that they’re a strong band that can change the concept of ‘cute’. She also asked Shige what his thoughts were.
Shige said that he also first saw them on a music program though he’d heard their name before. He said that like the listener he also thought that they were strong and that they’ll definitely sell. He said also said that he strongly agreed with the listener’s opinion that they can change the concept of ‘cute’. He think that they really understand themselves, and can see themselves objectively. Part of their draw is the ‘so-what’ attitude, and in the end makes them really cute. He played their song ‘Horechatta’ (Fell in love), and talked about how he would listen to the song without looking at the lyrics and there’s a word that he couldn’t tell what they were saying, and thought maybe they were saying ‘Choose’ but also felt that that wasn’t quite right and thought it was some kind of name like ‘darling. When he looked it up it was ‘Chaozu’ which means gyoza, a type of dumpling. Even though he initially thought it was a love song, it was about gyoza. He thought that kind of fooling around was very CHAI-like.
Shige talked about the CDTV Halloween performance next. He said that he hadn’t initially wanted to say what it was on air, but it turned into everyone saying what their costume was in order so he did though he wonders how many people knew it without him saying.
The next message was from a listener who said that before NEWS came on stage when she only was able to see his hat she wondered what his costume was, and as soon as he came on stage she laughed in surprise and was really excited by his Clockwork Orange costume. She asked how far in advance he’d prepared his costume.
The next message was from a listener who said that Shige’s costume seemed so like him that it made her laugh and that it suited him. She said that she also really like Clockwork Orange, and wanted to know why he chose it.
The next message was from a listener who said that they had been looking forward to seeing what Shige would pick after the vampire costume from last year and thought that his Clockwork Orange costume was amazing. She said that she watched the movie this spring and it really left an impression on her. She asked if Shige like Kubrick and wanted to know why he picked the costume he did.
Shige said that it was decided they would appear on the program and it was already decided what songs they would perform so they didn’t really get to pick. He was told to think of a costume, and he talked about how he’s not been the type to proactively decide to dress up and put a lot of effort into his costumes, for home parties and stuff he’s just worn the full body animal suits you see outside of supermarkets plenty of times. He wasn’t able to decide on a costume by the date they were originally asked to decide by, he couldn’t find anything he wanted to do. So he asked what the other members were doing, he didn’t know since they hadn’t seen each other for awhile, and saw that what they were doing were all separate. So he first though he’d leave it up to the stylist, and about a week before the stylist sent over a costume of the mad hatter from Alice in Wonderland. He thought he’d go along with it, but then thought about how a bunch of listeners would probably send in messages to this radio asking if he liked Alice in Wonderland. He said he does it like, but it’s not that he’s passionate about it. So he decided he should do something he likes instead. He wanted to do a movie character, but there are sometimes issues with copyright, but he finally decided to go with Clockwork Orange about 2 days before. He apologized to the stylist but told them that and they made him a really detailed costume. He said the members didn’t know it, and it’s difficult to explain, but the people who do know it get really excited. He also talked about how he was shocked at how many people didn’t like it since it’s a movie that you can’t escape from if you like movies and culture.
